🔹 हिंदी वाक्य की पहचान

जिन वाक्यों के अंत में प्रायः
रहा था, रही थी, रहे थे आता है, वे Past Continuous Tense के होते हैं।

उदाहरण:

• वह स्कूल जा रहा था।

• वे क्रिकेट खेल रहे थे।

• मैं खाना खा रही थी।

🔹 Common Adverbs / Time Expressions (Past Continuous)

Past Continuous में समय बताने वाले expressions ज़रूरी होते हैं –

• yesterday (कल)

• at that time (उस समय)

• all day yesterday (कल पूरा दिन)

• all night (पूरी रात)

• all evening (पूरी शाम)

• the whole morning (पूरी सुबह)

• when (जब)

• while (जबकि)

• at 5 o’clock yesterday (कल 5 बजे)

• last night (पिछली रात)

• at that moment (उस क्षण)

🔹 Helping Verb (H.V.)

👉 Was / Were

• He, She, It, Singular Subject → was

• I, We, You, They, Plural Subject → were

🔹 Main Verb

👉 V1 + ing (Present Participle Form)

✅ Affirmative Structure

Sub + was/were + V1+ing + Obj + (time expression).

Examples (Affirmative)

1. He was reading a book yesterday.

2. I was writing a letter at that time.

3. She was singing a song last night.

4. They were playing cricket in the evening.

5. We were watching TV at 8 o’clock yesterday.

Sub + was/were + not + V1+ing + Obj.

Examples (Negative)

1. He was not reading a book yesterday.

2. I was not writing a letter at that time.

3. She was not singing a song last night.

4. They were not playing cricket in the evening.

5. We were not watching TV at 8 o’clock yesterday.

Was/Were + Sub + V1+ing + Obj ?

Examples (Interrogative)

❓ WH-Word + Interrogative Structure

WH-Word + was/were + Sub + V1+ing + Obj ?

Examples (WH-Questions)

1. What were you doing yesterday? (तुम कल क्या कर रहे थे?)

2. Where was he going last night? (वह पिछली रात कहाँ जा रहा था?)

3. Why was she crying at that time? (वह उस समय क्यों रो रही थी?)

4. Who was teaching you yesterday? (कल तुम्हें कौन पढ़ा रहा था?)

5. When were they playing cricket? (वे कब क्रिकेट खेल रहे थे?)
